12th and 13th November 2009
The Young Diabetologists Forum (YDF) and the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) have developed an educational programme for year 4 and year 5 SpRs.
This year's two-day programme will be held on the 12th ands 13th November, chaired by Professors Sir George Alberti and Rury Holman. Only 50 places are available on a first-come first-served basis via the YDF web site.
Topics to be covered include managing acute diabetic situations, managing hyperglycaemia beyond the guidelines, insulin pumps, managing obesity, how to get the consultant job of your dreams, NHS survival guide for new consultants, life in the trenches - insights from a new consultant. In addition, workshops will cover communicating with colleagues, acute diabetic scenarios, service management as a new consultant, optimising glucose lowering therapies, new drugs and management of intractable obesity.
