TECOS trial members gather for annual European meeting

18-Apr-2012

On 22nd March, the Oxford-based TECOS team hosted a European Investigators Meeting for a selection of European sites in Noordwijkerhout, Netherlands - a region known fondly as the "Dune and Bulb Region".

Representatives from many of our new European sites were also there, and along with those from numerous existing sites, got the opportunity to learn about the trial and share experiences.

TECOS Joint Chair Professor Rury Holman welcomed everyone to the meeting, before a series of presentations covering all aspects of the TECOS trial began. A real highlight of the morning was a presentation from Operations Committee Member for Italy, Professor Giuseppe Ambrosio. His
talk highlighted guidelines for best clinical practice and also the usual care collaborations integral to the TECOS trial design.

Over a buffet of delicious Dutch food, delegates met and discussed the trial with other sites from their countries and regions.

In the afternoon, members from 14 countries across the globe attended our annual Operations Committee face-to-face meeting, where attendees discussed patient recruitment and retention.

Dr Jo Milton, TECOS Project Manager at the Diabetes Trials Unit in Oxford, said, "It was wonderful to see so many TECOS teams in one room!"
