2014 Oxford BRC Open Day

26-May-2014

The 2014 Oxford Biomedical Research Centre annual open day was held on Monday May 19, with teams demonstrating the latest technology and techniques tackling conditions such as cancer, dementia, arthritis and diabetes.

Staff from the Diabetes Trials Unit (DTU) Translational Research Group (TRG) were on hand to provide advice and insights into diabetes and the metbolic impact of different foods.

DTU Research Nurse, Sarah White, said 'We had a busy afternoon, with visits from people with diabetes and also many people with friends and relatives who have the disease. They were interested to hear about the wide range of research projects taking place in OCDEM, and a few even signed up to our recruitment register!'.

Irene Kennedy, TRG Project Manager, noted 'I was amazed how many people were interested in our work. In addition to talking about the latest research, guessing the sugar and fat contents of some common foods proved 'a must' for both myself and our visitors!'
