In order to provide more precise estimates of the effects of glucose-lowering on major cardiovascular events, the Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD), Action in Diabetes and Vascular Disease: Preterax and Diamicron Modified Release Controlled Evaluation (ADVANCE), UKPDS and Veterans Affairs Diabetes Trial (VADT) investigators have established a collaboration to facilitate a formal meta-analysis of the results from each trial and to explore any differences among trials.
