The Young Diabetologists Forum (YDF) has joined forces with the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) to develop an educational programme for Year 4 and 5 SpRs.
This year's programme will be held over two days at the end of October and will be chaired by Prof Sir George Alberti and Prof Rury Holman. There are only 50 places available and, as with all YDF events, registration will be purely online.
Topics to be covered include managing juniors as a new consultant, managing acute diabetic situations, new drugs - especially safety issues, managing persistent hyperglycaemia, managing obesity, update on islet/pancreas replacement therapies and surviving as a new consultant.
In addition, workshops will cover communicating with colleagues, acute diabetic scenarios, service management as a new consultant, optimising glucose lowering therapies, new drugs and management of intractable obesity.
